The award consists of $500.00 plus an engraved plaque and will be presented at the 2004 BCTM in Montréal, Canada.

If you would like to be considered for this award, please notify Ms. Evelyne Trouvé immediately. She can be reached at the location listed above.

PART II

PREPARING YOUR TALK

Please note that all presentations this year will be presented electronically. Please plan to have transparencies available as an alternative in the event of difficulty. The BCTM conference secretary, Ms. Evelyne Trouvé, must receive your PowerPoint files by Monday, September 8, 2003 for recording onto session CDs.

The size of PowerPoint files is often too large to be sent by e-mail and may cause a communication error. Thus, airmail submission of a of ZIP, MO, CD or floppy diskette is strongly recommended.

Please airmail the diskette to our conference secretary, Evelyne Trouvé.

Ms. Evelyne Trouvé,
BCTM 2003 Conference Secretariat
LAAS-CNRS
7 avenue du Colonel Roche
31077 TOULOUSE Cedex 04
TEL: +33-(0)561-336-359
FAX: +33-(0)561-336-208 Email: bctm2003@laas.fr

This advance submission is an absolute requirement. It is not feasible to switch to a separate laptop PC for each presenter. A preview room will be available for you to check your presentation.

Authors should prepare a 20-minute talk (if your talk is invited, see the sheet for invited speakers). The talk will be followed by a 5-minute question-and-answer session. The session chairman will end the talk promptly after 20 minutes to maintain the overall schedule, so it is desirable to practice your talk and timing beforehand.

All authors except luncheon and keynote speakers must register for the meeting and pay the registration fee. Luncheon and keynote speakers will be given complimentary badges, etc.

All authors/speakers in a given session are asked to meet with the session chair on Sunday September 28th at 6:00 PM to familiarize themselves with the audio/visual equipment and the proceedures of the BCTM. If you cannot attend this important meeting, you must notify the Session Chair, Co-Chair, and Sub-Committee Chair. In addition, presenters must arrive at the session location 30 min. before the beginning of the session.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INVITED PAPERS
2003 BIPOLAR/BiCMOS CIRCUITS AND TECHNOLOGY MEETING

  1. Subject Matter and Emphasis. While contributed papers for the BCTM are judged on the basis of originality and novelty, we will have a number of double-length review or tutorial papers in 2003 which are to cover "standard" material or update the state of the art.
The primary audience for such papers is intended to be: a) Relatively junior engineers; b) Engineers coming into bipolar or BiCMOS from other areas; c) Engineers with a change of assignment who are making an effort to get up to speed in a new area.
The invited talks should emphasize basic concepts, and try to present these in as clear a way as possible, or present a detailed summary of the state of the art as it relates to bipolar technology.
  2. The Talk. The invited talks are forty-five minutes long with five minutes for question and answer at the end. Presenters should try to emphasize basic concepts and present these as clearly and as concisely as possible. Good graphics in the slides are usually a great help in achieving this. Two or three minutes of opening remarks explaining the nature of the material and how it fits into the overall picture of process and/or product development is also a good way of capturing your audience’s attention (i.e., "Why is this useful or important?").
  3. The Proceedings Paper. It is intended that the Proceedings articles for these invited talks serve as source material for engineers getting acquainted with the subject. The invited papers may be up to eight pages in length. Try to produce a paper, which will be of long-term value in explaining the most important ideas and principles of the subject in question, and try to present as extensive a bibliography as possible so that the reader will know where to look for more detail.
If you can say, "My paper answers the five most-often-asked questions about Subject X" then you have done a good job.

  4. Biography Please bring a short speaker biography to be used by the session chairman to introduce you to the audience. This should be 50-100 words in length and should describe such things as your education, employment, and professional activities.
