Objectives

Building off emerging capabilities in MEMS and energetic material science, we will develop a very emerging and promising technology that could be implemented in working systems requiring energetic micro actuation. We have chosen to demonstrate mPyros through one example of application: the micropropulsion for the space industry. Beyond the micropropulsion demonstrator, we claim to have generic designing and technological tools to serve the emergence of mPyros in new application fields: Medical, Military, Security… To achieve this overall scope, we will launch a strong basic research program to overcome technological and scientific difficulties validated by a demo phase.

The concrete objectives are:

• Develop advanced basic technologies to fabricate performant and reliable MicroPyroSystems until the prototyping including specific equipment to inject the propellant inside the micronodes,
• Set up theoretical models, build design tools and open a support infrastructure.
• Develop methods and characterisation means to have expertise tools for further developments.
• Demonstrate the space application by assembling and testing a micropropulsion module and exploit the results.
