The DLR Control Design Engineering Group developed RASP, the Control Library of DLR (German Aerospace Center) and the RASP-based CACSD environment ANDECS. Among the CACSD Tools developed by the DLR Control Group are: MOPS, a Multi-Objective Parameter Synthesis tool for MATLAB, and the Descriptor Systems Toolbox for MATLAB. Other methods and tools are described here. The DLR Control Design Engineering Group was an important contributor to the development of the control and systems library SLICOT in the framework of the European project NICONET. The main contributions of the group to this project are the collection of routines for model and controller reduction, descriptor systems, periodic systems, system factorization, and system identification. A new SLICOT Web site has been open recently.
The International Society "Numerics in Control Network" NICONET aims to stimulate the development of scientific software for the disciplines of control and system theory. The Society, a follower of the Working Group on Software (WGS), is a cooperation between several academic institutes and industries to join software implementation efforts for developing reliable numerical control software. NICONET has a strong academic representation. The members of the group are very active in the development and implementation of numerical methods for control systems analysis and design. The main objectives of NICONET are: (1) to continue the development of high quality numerical software for control and systems theory and to include this software in the dedicated control library SLICOT, and (2) to stimulate research and development of basic numerical software for control and system theory. As a follower of the NICONET International Society, The club Niconet e.V., based in Braunschweig, Germany, was founded in February 2007.
