Advanced design and integration of microwave circuits and SoC



Integrated PLL circuit on Silicon (20 Ghz)
Nanoelectronics foundries, either silicon or III-V, allows today the integration of complex circuits for microwave or millimetre wave frequencies. However, the design of such circuits is based on the precise modelling of the active devices and also, on researches on circuit architecture. We address all these features, and particularly applications in which our special knowledge allows us to reach very high performance : management of signal quality (spectral purity, signal to noise…), very high frequency circuits and related electromagnetic problems, mixed analogue and digital integration…


The problem of noise and parasitics signals is closely related to the studies previously described. However, the problems related to the design of circuits in the millimetre wave range, or related to the architecture of complex SoC, are studied seeking also different goals : integration level, frequency performance, power consumption, multi-functionality… Indeed future circuits or SoC will need to be not only of high integration level or high performance in terms of noise, but also self-adjustable, self-testable, autonomous and multi-standards. Modelling approaches need to fit these goals, which implies simultaneous electromagnetic & electrical modelling, new materials and devices modelling, system architecture…
